Tyler Meis, PT, DPT, OCS

Why did I start Veracity PT?

In an average outpatient physical therapy practice, therapists are forced to schedule 2-3 patients per hour and constantly split their attention.  I spent the first few years of my career in this situation, frustrated that I couldn't devote more thought and energy to each case and growing closer to burnout by the day.  Once I learned that high overhead costs, growth incentives, and insurance hassles were forcing this practice model upon therapists, I formed a vision of a model that eliminates those issues.  Now I can dedicate the thought and energy that each appointment deserves.  After all, I believe that a therapist's knowledge, critical thinking skills, and empathy are his or her most valuable assets.  If you agree, we are going to make an excellent team.  I look forward to meeting you, hearing your story, and helping you live your life to the fullest!

What does the OCS part mean?

It stands for Orthopedic Certified Specialist.  In short, it means that I passed a difficult exam and met the standards of clinical experience to be designated as an expert in the practice of orthopedic physical therapy.  Here's an excerpt from the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties:

"Clinical specialization in physical therapy responds to a specific area of patient need and requires knowledge, skill, and experience exceeding that of the physical therapist at entry into the profession.  The specialist certification program was established to formally recognize physical therapists with advanced clinical knowledge, experience, and skills in a special area of practice and to help consumers and the health care community identify these physical therapists.
